A Santa Fe man is the brains behind a new company that aims to take computing architecture into the next century.

Alex Nugent, a former Los Alamos National Laboratory employee who grew up in Santa Fe, is the chief executive officer and co-founder of Knowm Inc., which officially launched Tuesday and will premiere its work next week at the Semicon West showcase in San Francisco.

The company is the result of 13 years of research into a computing concept known as AHaH, “which eliminates the duality of memory and processing,” and meshes a new type of connection between computer hardware and software to analyze data streams, Nugent said.
