Kermit Lopez was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Kermit earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Mexico (Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering) and a J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law. He is a licensed attorney with the State Bars of New Mexico, Texas, and Colorado, and is a registered patent attorney with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. He previously served as in-house counsel to Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM and Ericsson, Inc. in Richardson, Texas, and as a patent attorney with the law firm of Felsman, Bradley, Gunter & Dillon in Austin, Texas and Bickel & Brewer in Dallas. He was also a co-founder of the intellectual property law firm of Ortiz & Lopez, PLLC and is currently a team member of Knowm, Inc.
